Property worth millions of Naira were, yesterday evening destroyed as
fire gutted Federal Ministry of Works building at Tafawa Balewa Square,
on Lagos Island.
Vanguard gathered that the fire started from the R&A section on the ground floor of the two-storey building at about 6:30p.m.
Sources said the staff had closed for the day before the fire started.

Africa Gets First White Leader in 20 years
Zambia’s Guy Scott became Africa’s first white head of state in 20 years on Wednesday after the president, “King Cobra” Michael Sata, died in a London hospital aged 77.
Scott, a Cambridge-educated economist born to Scottish parents, was Sata’s vice president.
He takes over as interim leader until an election in three months, making him the first white African leader since South Africa’s F.W. de Klerk lost to Nelson Mandela in the 1994 election that ended apartheid, Reuters says.

A Kenyan publication, the Standard Digital News, which spearheaded the news claimed Wizkid who was visiting to shoot a video and also perform at a concert, was arrested at Nairobi Crown Plaza, a non-smoking hotel, where he was lodged.
“He was arrested when he was about checking out of the hotel after it was discovered he had smoked an illegal substance- weed. The hotel manager questioned him about the illegal act, which made them have a hot argument, before the hotel security men called in the police. On their arrival at the scene, the police arrested Wizkid with handcuffs and led him to the Capital Hill Police Station. Even though he had paid the Sh50, 000 fine the hotel charges for breaking their rules, he was still taken away, before he finally sorted himself out. Wizkid was due to leave for Lagos at around 3pm and was forced to cancel the flight due to the drama”
